Child Sleep problems are some of the most common challenges faced by
parents. You may wonder about how to get your child to Sleep all
through the night hours. You may have a new baby and want to learn
how to help them to develop and maintain healthy Sleep habits that
will last a lifetime. Some children may have chronic Sleep
difficulties. Many children and most adults live much of their lives
in a Sleep-deprived condition.
If your infant or young child has a problem with Sleeping, we feel
that it is a good idea to collect the following Sleep Diary
information for a representative three or four sleep cycle periods
to accurately inform your Doctor or Sleep professional of the
perceived problem. For a longer term or as a Sleep Diary between
visits to the Doctor, we suggest collecting Sleep Diary data for
three weeks before making a follow-up appointment. This information
will be very useful in formulating the appropriate Sleep treatment plan.

You may have questions about how to get your child to sleep all
through the night. You may have a new baby and want to learn how to
help them develop good sleep habits that will last a lifetime. Some
children have chronic sleep difficulties and many children, as well
as many adults, are actually living through most every day
sleep-deprived. There is information on all of these child sleep
disorders and more, and links to even more resources to help your
children get a better night’s sleep.
When people sleep, they cycle between rapid eye movement (REM)
sleep and non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. In REM, your eyes
move around fast, you don’t move your body much, and you dream. REM
is light sleep and the stage when your infant or child is most
likely to wake up. NREM sleep is deep sleep.
In normal sleep, a child cycles between light sleep and deep
sleep. Each light sleep stage is a time when the child is more
likely to wake up.
